A job report has found found firms created about 130,000 new positions in the first half of the year, an increase of 2.5 percent on the same period last year.
Employment website Seek, which carried out the report, said the banking and finance industry experienced the biggest growth, while construction also grew, which offset declines in trade and service sectors.
Spokesperson Sarah Macartney said: "We're definitely seeing the side effects of the strong property and housing market across the Auckland region really flowing on into job opportunities."
Ms Macartney said Auckland's soaring housing market should continue to support job growth.
Meanwhile, ANZ's job advertising index has suggested demand for workers was easing in parts of the country due to slowing economic activity.
