CWC officially opened

The Cricket World Cup was officially opened last night by the Prime Minister of Bangladesh Sheik Hasina in a gala ceremony after captains from the 14 participating countries were paraded around the Bangabandhu National Stadium in traditional rickshaws.

A host of singers and dancers from the three host countries were joined by the Grammy award-winning Canadian singer Bryan Adams who rocked the arena wwith a medley of his hits.

Bangladesh, a country of 160-million people, is co-hosting the World Cup with India and Sri Lanka, and they're playing the tournament's opening match tomorrow, against India in Dhaka.
