The Ministry for Primary Industries has found two more fruit flies in Auckland, pushing the total found to seven.
It said the two male fruit flies were found in two separate traps, near the main affected property in Grey Lynn.
MPI said it was still confident it was dealing with a localised population of the fly that could be eradicated.
It said when it was dealing with the Mediterranean fruit fly in Auckland in 1996, 41 adult flies were detected before the pest was declared eradicated.
