Pacific leaders have added their voices to a global call for a world free of nuclear weapons.

Six island nations have joined 50 countries world wide in signing onto the new United Nations treaty on the prohibition of nuclear weapons.

Speaking at the UN General Assembly in New York, many Pacific leaders echoed the UN secretary general's call  this week (Tuesday 26 Sept) on the international day for the total elimination of nuclear weapons.
