Netsafe has been inundated with complaints about a website which is being used as a platform for cyber bullying.
ask-fm was started in 2010 and has rapidly grown in popularity this year. Members create a profile and are asked questions by other members or anonymous users.
Netsafe said it's had an increase in inquiries about the site in the last few months which .
Spokesperson Lee Chisholm said a lot of the complaints are from parents and schools about anonymous users asking young people inappropriate and nasty questions.
She said these include suggestions of suicide and self harm, and also explicitly sexual questions.
Ms Chisholm urged people to make sure their settings don't allow anonymous users to access their profile.
