After three months of tireless campaigning for the title of Bug of the Year 2023, the votes are in...

Our first ever bug champion is the ngaro huruhuru, the native bee Leioproctus fulvescens! Up against stiff competition from the North Island lichen moth, the New Zealand praying mantis, the Pūriri moth and the wētāpunga, this cute, fluffy yellow pollinator is well-deserving of the crown.
