A sign outside the Snap Fitness gym says a person with the virus was there last Saturday.

It said the risk was low but the gym was closed for deep cleaning as a precaution and would reopen on Tuesday.

Contact tracing information for those in the gym at the same time as the confirmed case have been passed to the Ministry of Health.

In a post on Facebook, the gym said: "We have been in direct contact with Auckland Regional Public Health Service on Thursday 22nd October and they have confirmed that one of the recent community cases of COVID-19 had attended Snap Fitness Browns Bay while infectious (though not symptomatic) on Saturday October 17th.

"While public health does not require us to close the facility as we have been classed as low risk, we have made the decision to close Snap Fitness Browns Bay effective immediately at 1pm October 22nd and at this stage we will re-open 12.00pm (mid-day) on Saturday 24th October.

"We have worked closely with Public Health to identify everyone who was at the gym on the same day as the case, Saturday 17th October, and who attended the 28 Day Challenge boot camp at Browns Bay beach with the person on this day. Public Health will be in touch with these members with advice on next steps."

It comes after a person who tested positive for Covid-19 visited The Malt pub in Greenhithe which is also on the North Shore.
