Rugby Sevens World Cup draw annouced

The countdown to March's Rugby Sevens World Cup has begun following the Pool Allocation Draw for the men's and women's events in Dubai.

The 2001 winners New Zealand are joined in Pool A by hosts Arabian Gulf, Tonga and Italy, while the defending champions Fiji face France, the USA and Georgia in Pool B.

The IRB Sevens World Series leaders South Africa head Pool C and will be looking to win their first ever World Cup.

Fourth seeds Samoa line-up against Australia in the group of death Pool D while Argentina are favourites to top Pool E.

This year's tournament is the first time a 16-team women's event will run alongside the traditional 24-team men's competition.

New Zealand are in Pool D with South Africa , Italy and Uganda.
