A large eight-metre wooden sculpture of a man has been set alight on a Hawke's Bay beach this evening in an annual event.

Locals crowded around the sculpture in Te Awanga, on the coast near Hastings, about 8.30pm.
The sculpture had similarities to US President Donald Trump.
But the creators said it's a resemblance of every man and the fact people's problems have to be solved by everyone.
It was a belated Guy Fawkes event.
