The Asian Development Bank is providing a $US5 million dollar grant to help Samoa strengthen its finances.

The grant goes into the Samoa Fiscal Resilience Improvement Program so it can be used for budget support.

The programme, which will run over three years, aims to reduce losses through state-owned enterprise reform; to improve procurement systems and debt management, and to promote resilience to climate change.

It will also help the country's foreign exchange reserves.
