A person has drowned at Piha beach in West Auckland this morning.
Hato Hone St John said it was alerted to the situation just before noon.
Emergency crews attempted to resuscitate the person, however they were unable to be revived.
Seven response vehicles were dispatched, including two helicopters and an ambulance.
Police said the death will be referred to the Coroner.
