Westwood blames US captain for bad crowd behaviour

The English golfer Lee Westwood has pointed the finger at the US captain Paul Azinger for what he describes as shameful crowd behaviour during yesterday's final Ryder Cup matches at the Valhalla course in Kentucky.

Westwood said Azinger's rallying call incited the thousands of home fans to cheer bad shots by the Europeans. The English star had also had a crack at the American player Boo Weekley for whipping up the galleries when the Europeans still had shots to play.

But Paul Azinger praised the fans, saying they behaved beautifully and played a big part in the United States 16-1/2 11-1/2 victory, their first win in the bi-ennial event since 1999.

The European captain Nick Faldo says he won't be standing for another term as captain.
