While Chicago quartet Fall Out Boy are best known for their chart-troubling fusion of pop and rock music, their roots are planted firmly in the Illinois punk and hardcore scene, origins they returned to on their Ryan Adams-produced punk EP, Pax AM Days.

Fall Out Boy's principle songwriter and band mouthpiece, Pete Wentz, talks about the band's motives, their new album American Beauty/American Psycho, and straddling the pop/punk divide.
