Switching suburbs could save home buyers thousands - Westpac

One bank is suggesting potential home buyers look further afield to get more bang for their buck.

Westpac research says people could save thousands of dollars and take years off their mortgage by looking at alternative suburbs to their first choice.

While that may seem like common sense, Westpac general manager retail banking Ian Blair says that the research is about making people more aware of options open to them.

He says the research gives people some potential facts and ideas about why it might be a good idea to buy in the adjoining suburb.
