Blockage, slip cause delays for motorists in North Island

10:38 am on 20 January 2020

A breakdown blocked one lane of Auckland's southern motorway heading north and a slip has closed part of State Highway 2 between Napier and Gisborne.

In Auckland, the left lane just past the Alfriston Road overbridge was blocked after Takanini, causing delays.

The lane was cleared just before 9am, the Transport Agency said.

Meanwhile, the Transport Agency is working to clear the slip just north of Putorino, which is about an hour north of Napier.

The agency said motorists should avoid the area or try to delay travel.

It does not say when it expects the road to reopen.

Police say both lanes of the Waikato Expressway were blocked following a truck crash about 6.30am.

No other vehicles were involved and no-one was injured in the accident south of the Gordonton on-ramp.
