One person is dead and another seriously injured after two cars crashed north-east of Rotorua this morning.

Emergency services were called to State Highway 33 near Okere Falls just after 7am.
The road is closed and cordons are in place on the highway near Allport Road.
Police are asking motorists to avoid the area.
