A one-year-old child suffered serious head injuries after being hit by a car in a driveway in Tauranga this morning.
The police and ambulance attended the incident in the suburb of Brookfield at about 11:30am.
Inspector Willie Taylor said a family member was driving the car.
Seven children have been hit in driveways in the last year.
Five of them have died from their injuries.
