Man arrested in Palmerston North after firearms incident

A man has been flushed out with tear gas and arrested after he presented a firearm at police in Palmerston North.

The police were in the suburb of Roslyn investigating a related fleeing driver incident shortly before 4:30 this afternoon.

They said a man presented a firearm at police from a Clyde Crescent property.

He refused to exit the property and at 8.45pm tear gas was deployed.

Police have arrested the man.
