Tahiti pension reform stirs political scene

06:03 am on 23 March 2018

French Polynesia's stalled pension reform has shaken the political landscape just weeks out from the territorial election.

The union leader at the heart of a general strike two weeks ago Angelo Frebault wants to quit his position to run as a candidate for the Tahoeraa Huiraatira of Gaston Flosse.

And two anti-independence supporters want to create a new list to stand in the election because of the opposition politicians' indifference to the workers' plight.

Walter Zweifel reports.
