A Chinese company is making a bid for the next stage in a Cook Islands water infrastructure project.

The China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation is tendering for the 45 million US dollar job of the Te Mato Vai venture.
According to the Cook Islands News, this marks a change as the company last year said it would not be joining the second stage.
The giant Chinese company was in charge of the first stage of Te Mato Vai, laying, welding and pressure-testing the ring mains around Rarotonga.
The successful contractor for stage two will be responsible for designing, implementing and upgrading 12 existing intakes around the island.
The project has also attracted interest from Australian and New Zealand contractors, as well as local companies.
