Hesson shows faith in Rutherford and Fulton

18:50 pm on 26 January 2014

The New Zealand men's cricket coach Mike Hesson admits his Test openers Hamish Rutherford and Peter Fulton are under pressure to score runs at the top of the order.

Hesson's named an unchanged side to take on India in the two-Test series, beginning on Waitangi Day at Eden Park - though the coach says Martin Guptill and Tom Latham were close to a recall.

Hesson says recalled one day bowler Hamish Bennett was also close to making the Test squad, as was Trent Boult.

Meanwhile the Black Caps can't lose the one day series after Saturday night's cliffhanger tie against India at Eden Park. New Zealand lead the five-match series 2-0 - the next game's in Hamilton on Tuesday.
