Phoenix beat Wanderers thanks to the wind in Wellington

11:46 am on 3 December 2012

The Wellington Phoenix have beaten the West Sydney Wanderers 1-0 in their A-League football match in the capital with the only goal coming somewhat fortuitously from a Jeremy Brockie cross.

The All White scored the goal midway through the first half when his cross was caught by the Wellington wind and beat the Wanderers goalkeeper Ante Covic.

The result moves the Phoenix up to sixth on the table and Brockie's first goal at Westpac Stadium after scoring five on the road lifts him up to outright second on the golden boot table, just one goal behind the Central Coast Mariners' Daniel McBreen, who has seven.
