Loan sharks unchecked for too long - Salvation Army

The Salvation Army says the harm that's being done to poor families by loan sharks and payday lenders has gone unchecked for too long. For the first time, the organisation has included fringe lending in its annual state of the nation report, saying debt is being sold to vulnerable people on almost impossible terms with high interest rates. And it says levels of this type of lending may be increasing - but the lack of effective monitoring means that can't be accurately determined.
