Waipawa

A volunteer hub was been set up on Bibby Street in Waipawa, Lauren Crimp reported. Volunteers could register what they can help with, and be connected with homes and people that need them. It was a joint effort between local volunteers and council in an effort to streamline the outpouring of offers of help, and requests for support.

Waiohiki

Repoter Sally Murphy was in the small Napier settlement of Waiohiki on Saturday. The town, which consists of several dozen houses and a marae, has been smashed, with almost all of the houses flooded when the Tutaekuri River tore holes through the stop banks earlier this week.
