Nine people were arrested in Masterton overnight after armed offenders raided a house where a person was seen with a gun.
Police were called to the Cornwall Street home at about 10.30pm Monday night, and cordons were put in place while an Armed Offenders Squad were sent from Wellington.
Four people who left the address were stopped at the cordon, and were arrested after being found with drug paraphernalia and ammunition.
When the Armed Offenders Squad arrived, the house was cleared and a further five people were arrested.
A firearm and ammunition was found at the house.
The nine people have been charged with drug offences and were due to appear in court today.
