An Auckland high school was forced to cancel a mayoral event last night, after 13 pupils were diagnosed with measles. Manurewa High School says cases are increasing every day, leading them to send 300 pupils home, test some of their staff's immunity and to postpone school and comunity activities. The Board of Trustees have asked parents must to prove their child's MMR immunisation, with those not vaccinated asked to not return to school until Monday next week. There have been 700 confirmed cases of measles in Auckland so far this year - with 475 of them in Counties Manukau DHB which covers South and East Auckland. South Auckland doctor Vaaiga Autagavaia joins me now.
