An earthquake was felt across large parts of Christchurch this morning.
The quake at 6.25am was centred 10km south-east of Christchurch, and was relatively shallow, at 7km depth.
Almost 6000 people recorded on GeoNet having felt the quake, mostly in the Christchurch area.
GeoNet described the quake as light.
A second smaller quake at 6.55am was centred in the same spot.
The 2.8 quake at a a depth of 6km was described as 'weak' by GeoNet.
