A new community case of Covid-19 has been confirmed in Christchurch.

A staff member working at the Sudima Hotel, the managed isolation facility near Christchurch Airport where 237 Russian sailors are staying, tested positive for the virus last night.

That person is now in self isolation at home.

Before they were confirmed to have the virus that person did visit the Countdown supermarket in Colombo.

It is now closed for deep cleaning.
