Fonterra is recalling 8700 bottles of Anchor and Pams fresh cream due to the risk of E.coli in the product.
The recall is of all 300ml and 500ml bottles with a best before date of 21 January 2014 that were distributed in the North Island from Northland to Turangi, including Gisborne.
Fonterra has apologised for the incovenience and concern that the recall might cause, saying that food safety and quality is its top priority.
Earlier in January, French food giant Danone announced that it was terminating its supply contracts with Fonterra and taking it to the High Court over a false botulism scare last year that forced it to recall infant formula, including 67,000 cans in New Zealand alone.
