The Electoral Commission has rejected a complaint that a Christchurch magazine failed to declare a featured segment as election advertising.
This month's issue of Canterbury Rebuild features a picture of Prime Minister John Key and local National MPs Gerry Brownlee and Nicky Wagner.
Mr Brownlee and Mr Key contribute columns to the magazine - something that Canterbury University politics lecturer Bronwyn Hayward complained should have been declared as election advertising.
Voters go to the polls on 20 September.
But the magazine's owner, Trevor Laplanche, said today the timing is coincidental and would consider columns from Opposition MPs if they approached him.
Mr Laplanche said the magazine focuses on the good news stories coming out of the rebuild.
