Football history will be made in Wellington tonight when the All Whites take on Bahrain for a place in next years World Cup and the Bahrain coach says he expects the New Zealand crowd to make life difficult for his side.

Football fever has gripped the country this week with diehard followers and new found fans showing unprecedented support for an All White team hoping to reach the World Cup for just the second time in the country's history.

The Bahrain coach Milan Macala says he's well aware of New Zealand's passion for sport and is expecting a fiery reception at Westpac Stadium.

Macala's counterpart Ricki Herbert says he's finding this buildup tougher as a coach than when he played in the 1982 version that got the All Whites to their first world cup in Spain.

Herbert's uncomfortable making comparisons to the 1982 as he feels its disrespectful to both groups although before the side steps out onto Westpac stadium tonight he will highlight the opportunity this side has to create it's own legacy.
