Heavy fog in Auckland is causing delays for commuters due to low visibility and reduced speed limits.
MetService said the fog was a result of Wednesday's rain and a rise in humidity in most parts of the upper North Island.
On social media, early commuters shared pictures of the mist with one calling it "spooky".
Adding to the delays, a crash on Auckland's southern motorway blocked a northbound lane after the south eastern highway on-ramp.
Northland, Hamilton and parts of Coromadel have also been affected with dense fog covering majority of the peninsula.
At Auckland Airport, fog restrictions were in place and about a dozen regional flights were cancelled by about 8am.
Services to and from Rotorua, Taupō, Tauranga, Nelson and New Plymouth were cancelled. International flights were unaffected.
Some flights into Hamilton were also cancelled.
MetService said the fog should dissipate later in the morning.
