A woman has been charged with making a false complaint, after claiming she was sexually assaulted in central Christchurch early on Thursday morning.
The woman told police she had been attacked in Strand Lane, next to Cathedral Square, between 3am and 4am.
Detective Simon Lamond says a 21-year-old woman has been charged with making a false complaint and will appear in the Christchurch District Court next week.
