Macclesfield Town needs funds

07:47 am on 27 June 2013

The English football club Macclesfield Town have confirmed they hope to raise $40,000 by offering one person the chance to play for the club.

The successful applicant will feature for 10 minutes of a Conference Premier or Cup fixture.

The club will only consider fit males between the ages of 18 and 35, but have not said how they will choose a winner.

Macclesfield are in a perilous financial position and need 200 thousand dollars by the end of August to survive.

Macclesfield Town were relegated from League Two in 2012, ending their 15-year stay in the Football League, and finished 11th in the Conference last season, although they earned significant funds from a run to the fourth round of the FA Cup - their best-ever performance in the competition.
