Aussies name strong T20 side to tour New Zealand

Australia has named its squad to tour New Zealand later this month for a three match T20 International series.

It will be a strong Aussie side to take the field on February 21 in Wellington with a host of ODI World Cup winners among them.

Mitch Marsh has been named captain with Pat Cummins, David Warner, Steve Smith, Glenn Maxwell and Mitchell Starc all named in the squad.

Matt Short, who has been pulled from the one day series against the West Indies after injuring his hamstring, and injured paceman Nathan Ellis have both been included.

Chair of Selectors George Bailey said the next six games will provide the opportunity to start shaping what they think their World Cup squad will look like.

"Travis, Pat, Mitchell and Steve rejoin the squad following the series against the West Indies with Jason Behrendorff and Sean Abbott amongst the standby players from those playing the upcoming T20s.

"We will also fully utilise the opportunity to monitor and watch the performances of the Australian players in the IPL immediately preceding the World Cup."

Mitchell Marsh (C), Pat Cummins, Tim David, Nathan Ellis, Josh Hazlewood Travis Head, Josh Inglis, Glenn Maxwell, Matt Short, Steve Smith, Mitchell Starc, Marcus Stoinis, Matthew Wade, David Warner, Adam Zampa.

Black Caps vs Australia T20 series:

Wednesday February 21st in Wellington.

Friday February 23rd in Auckland.

Sunday February 25th in Auckland.
