The cost of fixing the House of Justice's mould problem in the Northern Marianas has been given a price tag of US$7 million.

The cost is for replacing the judiciary facility's 22-year-old air-conditioning system and remediation work.

The main court building had been closed since March the 16th due to the mould problem brought about by the faulty air-conditioning system.

The remediation will include replacing carpets in courtrooms and offices, digitizing affected documents and files, replacing acoustic wall panels in the courtrooms and acoustic ceiling boards.

The closure had forced the judiciary to hold some court proceedings in adjacent buildings.
