In preliminary results from today's election in the Cook Islands, two senior cabinet ministers have lost their seats.

At this early stage the opposition Democratic Party has six seats with the ruling Cook Islands Party having 3, with one independent winning a seat.
A survey before the poll had said no party was likely to win the 13 seats needed for a clear majority.
