The Marshall Islands will have the largest ship repair facility in the Central Pacific next year, from Taiwan.

Ports Authority directors have agreed with the Ching Fu Shipyard of Taiwan to relocate a floating drydock in the capital, Majuro in nine months' time.

Director Joe Tiobech says the Taiwan company will recruit Marshall Islanders to work at the drydock.

The facility will be able to handle purse seiner fishing boats and larger vessels whose shipment goes to Asian canneries.
