USAID helps Samoan businesses in disaster resilience

Helping Samoan small businesses be better prepared for natural disasters was the aim of a one day workshop run by the United States government and local commerce.

It was part of the US Agency for International Development's Ready project, which aims to strengthen the environmental and disaster resilience of Pacific countries.

About 30 people from small and medium-sized businesses learnt about the importance of continuity planning, the role of first responders and recovery after disasters.

USAID's has run similar programmes around the Pacific.
