Two men and one teenager have been charged with murdering Rei Marshall in New Plymouth last week.
Marshall, 23, was taken to Taranaki Base Hospital by associates on the evening of Wednesday 3 August, police said in a statement. He died from his injuries.
Two men aged 25 and 26 and one male teenager aged 16 have been charged with his murder.
They are due to appear in New Plymouth District Court tomorrow.
The trio had gang connections, police said.
While police hoped the arrests would bring some comfort to Marshall's family, they said they were still working to establish the full circumstances of his death.
They were appealing for public sightings and information on two vehicles. The first is a grey/silver 2005 Mazda Axela hatchback, with a damaged front driver's side headlight seen any time from Tuesday 2 August, and in particular in the New Plymouth Area including Blagdon on Wednesday 3 August around 5.30pm.
The second is described as a smaller Japanese hatchback, possibly blue in colour, around a 2010 year model, seen in the vicinity of 100 South Road on Wednesday 3 August about 6pm.
Anyone who saw these vehicles or has information about them is urged to call the dedicated phone number - 0800 287 453.
