A man has been taken to hospital with serious injuries after being hit by a piece of digger equipment at a construction site in the Auckland suburb of Orakei.
The man was working on the site on Okahu Street about 9.20am on Tuesday when the digger bucket fell on him, knocking him nearly two metres to the ground.
The man, who is in his fifties, was taken to Auckland Hospital with serious lacerations and fractures.
The site was cordoned off and Department of Labour inspectors were at the scene.
