Canterbury-based company Synlait Milk is confident it will soon be able to start sending infant formula to China again.
The company was one of a dozen infant formula makers in New Zealand that China said needed to make changes to its operations.
Five manufacturers have since gained approval and been registered, but Synlait was not one of them as it needed to make minor changes before it could start exporting again.
Managing director John Penno said the company was not expecting any problems once it finishes a new canning line and still thinks it's well-positioned for the new regulations.
