A network of over a thousand health professionals have released a set of guidelines to try and achieve consistency across the country for how skin cancer is treated. With more than 350 New Zealanders losing their life to melanoma every year, Melnet saw an urgent need to come up with a guide for the diagnosis and treatment of melanoma. It sets out the minimum standard of care patients should receive, and also what high-quality care should look like. Nathan Rarere spoke with Dr Chris Boberg, who's a GP with a special interest in the early detection and management of skin cancer, and asked him to explain what Melnet is.
