France has won the right to host the 2018 Ryder Cup golf match between Europe and the United States.
Le Golf National course in Versailles on the outskirts of Paris becomes only the second country in continental Europe to stage the Cup after the 1997 event was held at Valderama in Spain.
France beat competition from four other countries, including a Spanish bid which had gathered momentum following the death of Seve Ballesteros who captained Europe to victory in Valderama.
