Samoa has been knocked out of contention at the Wellington Rugby Sevens, after making the final last year.

Despite winning two of their three pool matches, against the Cook Islands and the United States, Samoa missed out on a valuable bonus point, meaning Fiji topped the pool.

Samoa's coach, Rudolph Moors, says he's very disappointed in the last game, losing 19-5 to Fiji.

"It's a very disappointing but I have no excuse to say, I think we have a lot of work to do, a lot of errors to look at and we have to build up for the next"

Rudolph Moors.

Samoa will today play France in the quarter of the bowl competition.
