Ponting becomes second skipper to lose Ashes twice

08:13 am on 26 August 2009

Ricky Ponting still can't believe his team no longer hold the Ashes - and the statistics actually back up the Australian cricket captain... apart from that small stat around the 2-1 series win to England following this morning's 197-run victory in London.

Australia's batsmen scored eight of the 10 centuries in the series and their bowlers were top of the wicket-taking list, Ponting maintaining that his side played the better cricket at times.

Ricky Ponting's now only the second captain to lose the Ashes series twice in England since Billy Murdoch in the 19th Century.
