London-based stand-up comedian Robyn Perkins has been performing for two-and-a-half years, and in that time has won and been the finalist for a number of comedy awards. In Over It, one of her shows at this year’s Edinburgh Festival Fringe, she works through the complicated but important life question: ‘How long after your boyfriend dies is it OK to have a wank?’ It is based on a true story.
“It was the day after the funeral when I met his parents for the first time, his father had asked me a very uncomfortable question,” she says. ”I called my sister and said “if this wasn’t the worst day of my life, it would be really funny.”
Radio New Zealand’s Charlotte Graham is covering the Edinburgh Fringe, with assistance from Creative New Zealand, and sat down for a chat with Robyn about her work.
