Prime minister Manasseh Sogavare said he is aware of the many concerns raised by Solomon Islanders about the issue in recent weeks.

Mr Sogavare said he was confident the taskforce will provide in-depth analysis to help develop an approach for his government to enhance its diplomatic engagements and leverage opportunities for the country.

Mr Sogavare said this will ensure that whatever decision his government makes on the issue it will be a sovereign decision made in the people's interest and in the interest of national peace, economic progress and prosperity.
