Chocolate may help you keep slim

06:53 am on 28 March 2012

New research suggests people who eat chocolate regularly tend to be thinner.

The findings come from a study of nearly 1000 Americans that looked at diet, calorie intake and body mass index or BMI - a measure of obesity, the BBC reports.

It found that those who ate chocolate a few times a week were, on average, slimmer than those who ate it occasionally.

Scientists believe even though chocolate is loaded with calories, it contains ingredients that may favour weight loss rather than fat synthesis.

And it appears it is how often you eat chocolate that is important - rather than how much of it you eat.

The study, published in Archives of Internal Medicine, found no link with quantity consumed.
