Fijian pastor to appear on sex charges

14:47 pm on 31 October 2014

A Fijian pastor based in Wellington is due to appear in Hutt Valley District Court court in two weeks on a raft of sex offences.

Jone Conikeli, 41, was facing nine charges of sexual offending against two girls aged under 16.

The charges included abduction and rape.

Police said the children involved were not part of his congregation but they were part of the wider Fijian community.

Conikeli was on bail after appearing in court on Tuesday.

He is unable to travel outside of New Zealand.
